Cardiff Council's prestigious Grade II listed Mansion House is the former residence of the Lord Mayor of Cardiff. And there in lay the dilemna. A venue due to be newly opened with a change of purpose and no way of promoting this luxurious and rather exclusive location in the heart of the city.
The conference & events team were in need of some creative help, and fast! They were looking for a brochure design, but one with a difference. Something stand out and a bit special. They were opening their doors for weddings, meetings and special occasions for the first time and if the house itself had a sumptuous, exclusive feel then the marketing materials had to have that too.
And that's where we came in. Visiting the Mansion House with our client really set our creative senses tingling. A few initial concepts for the logo design were even sketched out on site after some etched glass window detail caught our client's eye!
The feel of the final brochure was going to be crucial to it's success and potential substrates, alternative papers and printing finishes were all an early consideration. Foil blocking on a thick, plain black cardboard cover was the eventual preferred finish for the cover and inclusion of white printed vellum inlay sheets added a touch of luxury. The inner pages were printed on hand picked uncoated paper, giving it the right amount of tactile appeal. In fact, it proved impossible not to pick up.
And if that wasn't enough to convince people to use the venue, a glowing testimonial from Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas surely seals the deal?
